I have never had a blog before and think that I am having a little bit of trouble adapting to the casual nature of it... Whenever I think about making these blog posts it seems more daunting than it probably should. I thought that just saying this on the blog might be good practice for me.
I tend to obsess and try to turn every blog post into an essay, and what I found can help is just writing ridiculous nonsense posts but turning on the privacy settings so only you can see them. If I do me freewriting and note-taking and list-making and bullshit-producing where I can see it in the context of my work, I feel more like there's a general flow and less pressure. The blog posts look polished next to my ramblings and I'm not as nervous about them, and I'm also writing and thinking on the class more, which makes the initial step of translating a stream of thought into writing easier.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate that advice Charlotte! It really is just a matter of adjusting to the format. I have become a bit more acclimated to the whole thing, but I still find myself obsessing a bit more than is probably necessary over my comments. I guess that isn't the worst thing in the world! It just ends up taking me a while to get my required comments out there...
